We have classes in early 2022 on dissertation (2 x 1 hour) and on commentary (3 x 2 hours).

provide an overview/revision of British history for M1 enseignement. Other

On the 27th we will be on passage number seven, by Masse. Please prepare a translation before the class, and bring both the passage and the translation with you. Each week, if you send me your translation by email john.mullen@univ-rouen.fr by the Friday *before* we study that particular passage in class, I will send you by email individualized commentary. Please do not give me anything on paper.
After the class, each week, I post on my teaching blog http://johncmullen.blogspot.com/ a suggested translation with plenty of notes concerning the particular difficulties involved. This translation remains on my blog for two or three weeks only .
If you are thinking of taking the agrégation after your Master’s degree, do not worry – every year the passages are different, on a three year rotation.

As you know your L3 class has a marking scheme made up of three elements:
- a classroom test in November
- an exam in January
- an oral in May or June.
The classroom test, for both of my L3 groups, will be on Tuesday the 9th of November

We do most things online these days - encyclopedias etc. When working on translations, one can often find help with difficulties of vocabulary online - many online dictionaries are quite good these days, especially if they are accompanied by plenty of examples of the use of a word (eg https://www.linguee.fr/ )
This is not the case for online grammar, as I was reminded when I was correcting your latest work. I was looking for online explanations of the uses of "have someone do/ make someone do/ get someone to do/ have sthg done/ get sthg done". If you Google this kind of question, most of the answers given by different websites, forums etc are completely incorrect. This may be because amateurs think they understand grammar and do not (whereas amateurs may be quite good at giving examples of vocabulary use). I certainly know from experience that if you ask French people who are not linguistics experts to explain uses of the subjunctive, they will give you hopelessly inaccurate explanations.
So, for grammar explanations, do not look online. The only exception is where I give here on the blog a link. This means I will have checked the site and the explanations will be good. Stick very closely to your Grammaire explicative de l'Anglais...
So, if you can send me Daenincks, send it before Friday, otherwise send me Vasquez before the 15th.

I did request that your translations be sent to me by each Wednesday, one week before we look at them in class. I will sometimes accept them on Thursday and Friday, but, finally, I would like you not to send them after Friday midnight.
