Thème agrégation: last passages

I am not certain how many classes are left. This Wednesday we will do the last passage in the booklet you received, and here are two more passages for following classes. If you send me your translations I will comment on them.

M2 seminar *Updated post*

On Wednesday we will first talk about the video we saw last week - what are its strong points and its weak points *as history*.

Then one of our number will present this article . Please read it first.

Then we will go on with the chronology of the 1970s.

Concerning the marking of the module, you will find here a sample "mini-mémoire" which was done last year, to give you an idea of what is expected.

L3 exam

Am finally marking your exams, and the level is generally fine.
For next time, can you remember not to use contractions in written university work?

Captain Cook agrégation 2020 option civilisation post 43: Hawkesworth and the journals

You will have heard that a certain Mr Hawkesworth was asked by the admiralty (and very well paid) to write a book based on Cook's first journal. He mixed together his own material with Cook's journals and those of Joseph Banks. What he wrote did not Always please Cook.

Although you are unlikely to have the time to read the whole of it, an 1821 edition of Hawkesworth's book is available free online here, and this will give you a taste of how Cook was presented to his British contemporaries.
