Some Monty Python sketches have become classic, such as

And a number of others. Note that there were also in the Monty Python repertoire a number of sketches which are no doubt best forgotten: in particular a series of homophobic sketches, which did not shock most people at the time.

We will soon be moving onto popular music. We will be analysing popular music not just as a series of (perhaps poetic) lyrics and a series of (corresponding) notes riffs and feedback, but as a set of mass activities which play particular and changing roles in people's social, emotional and spiritual lives.

You will be being encouraged to take a wide view of popular music inside the history of society.

This week on Tuesday, I will be going through a little more on visual art, and beginning to talk about television.

After the break, on Tuesday 13th March, there will be a classroom test (DST). This is the one that counts for 15%. It will be in the form of a general essay question.
