Britain in the 1970s : World cup squad songs

It has been a tradition in England that the world cup football squad produce a pop song to accompany their sporting efforts (on the occasions when the team has qualified to play in the compêtition). These songs, I think it is fair to say, have rarely been of lasting artistic value. You will find the 1970 version here

In 1978, the English squad did not qualify, but the Scottish team did, and Rod Stewart participated in the production of this rousing chorus.

Note the slightly dated term "the Argentine" to refer to Argentina.
